Dolce Far Niente

It means the Sweetness of Doing Nothing.

I didn't read the book Eat Pray Love, but I did see the movie recently. I am now infatuated with the thought of finding Dolce Far Niente.

In our busy lives, full of To Do lists and other trivial things, isn't life supposed to be about the "now"? I am personally in the habit of being busy, as I know most of you are. And being a Mom who works (and plays), I am constantly striving to be as efficient as possible with my time. Its exhausting to be THAT efficient ALL the time. I know my other Mommy-friends can agree.

I mean, HOW many of those things on the list HAVE to get done TODAY? "What is the worst that will happen if they don't get done", I have started asking myself.

So, needless to say, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to find Dolce Far Niente.

One way: Borrow some of the joy that Carlyle finds in the littlest things. Her new discoveries, new words, and laughter.

Happy New Year!

I found the clip from the movie:

The Holidays - a recap

Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas . . .

Carlyle and Mommy went to the Tree Lighting at the Dallas Arts Center downtown.

Loved the Bell Choir.

Weather was "seasonably" warm for Texas, so we went to the Arboretum to enjoy it! One of the few places I have discovered that Carlyle can roam and explore without getting into trouble.

Garrity household attempting to be the Griswolds.
Christmas in Natchez begins . . .
Exploring Christmas on the River. Carlyle loved the snowmen and Santa's reindeer.

LOVES the horse & carriages at Zuzu's. She almost leaped out of Zuzu's arms trying to get to them. Eh-eh-eh-eh-eh says the Horsey.
And what would Christmas be without toys,
bedhead and Christmas PJs,
and cookies!
Garrity Family Christmas at Kathy's. Carlyle loved the rocking horse,

and piano playing with her cousins!

Three peas in a pod.
Thank you for the pretty dress, Zuzu!
Our traditional story-time on Christmas Eve.

Santa brought me a tunnel!

Ready for Christmas at Meme's. (thanks for the pretty dress, Meme!)

Who's your Daddy?

So, if you weren't QUITE convinced that Carlyle looks like Justin . . . you are now.
