Uncle Brandon, the baby whisperer

A special visit from Uncle Brandon
Who I have been calling the "Baby Whisperer" ever since.
Brandon: "Carlyle, can you say Mamma"
Carlyle: "Mamma"
Brandon: "Say Dadda"
Carlyle: "Dadda, Dadda"
Brandon: "Ok, Bye Bye, Carlyle"
Carlyle: "Babababa"
And he is convinced that Carlyle's "determined" face (when she is working hard on something) is the spitting image of Justin.

Labor Day at the Beach

2010

2008

The Peru crew has grown a little since our trip to Machu Picchu, and we had a blast with all our new additions. I purposely chose a far-away photo from Peru because we were pretty greasy at this point in the hike. Talk about extreme differences in photos: We are freshly showered all in white at the beach, and we are on our 4th day of no showers and same clothes in the Peru pic!

Carlyle's first trip to the beach, and her first introduction to sand...
She loved it, and she didn't eat TOO much of it.

You know how exhausting the beach can be.

"what can I say?..."

..."its hard trying to keep up with all the big kids!"
Elle wanted to hold Carlyle during story time. (just long enough to get a couple of pics before I had to rescue her because, "your baby is heavy" - ha!)
Carlyle, Isabel, and Jane in matching monogrammed swimsuits (partly coincidence)

Throwing a Party

Is hard work (for a 10 month old)...

I cleaned

I vacuumed

I partied

now, time for some LSU football with ZuZu.

Look Mom, NO TEETH!

Carlyle is at the 10 1/2 month mark, and still no teeth! This week, I think my "she must be teething" excuse is finally true. She has been very fussy and at times, inconsolable.

She MUST be teething.

But I will really miss this gummy smile.

A couple of things to note in this picture:
  • she has just enough hair for a teeny barrette or tiny bow
  • her first goose-egg bump on her head (my fault)

Told you so.

Everyone said, "When she starts school, she's gonna get sick". I was in disbelief, but our little bird came down with quite a fever this past weekend. She peaked at 103.9 so we didn't have to take her in, but we were awfully close!

I did (selfishly) enjoy the cuddling, but her little hands and face were so warm. So pitiful.
