Happy Half Birthday to You!

Carlyle is officially 6 months old today! I get a little teary eyed thinking about it.
She's a doll, and she requested that we celebrate the day with a stroll at the mall and sushi for dinner. All for her, of course.

And I couldn't be MORE excited!

We love you so much!

Happy Baby

Carlyle is almost 6 months old, and its hard to believe that she's already been in our lives (officially) for that long. On the other hand, I can't imagine, or remember, life without her! She is very determined, loves to laugh, and would just assume do without rice cereal. We continue to try to eat solids every morning, but after maybe swallowing 2 spoonfuls, most of it ends up on her clothes or the table (in a coating similar to concrete).
Parenthood is about to get very messy.
At her five month appointment, she weighed 14.5 lbs and her length measured in the 75%. Our long, skinny bird with just enough fat rolls to love on. She's an angel when it comes to sleeping, and I'm not bragging, but we have been really lucky! She is roughly on an 8 to 7 schedule at night, and we do realize since she spoiled us so much, our next one is going to be a handful. I mostly follow her lead during the daytime, and I have yet to establish a daytime schedule. She's still taking either 2 long naps or 3 short naps a day. But because Justin and I don't really live our lives by a schedule, I think it allows her to adapt to our lifestyle more easily.
Not saying that she is ready to hit the road running like her Dad . . .

Sitting up with Enthusiasm

Carlyle is very vocal. She is starting to sit up now, and we discovered a technique that Justin refers to as an "old school lawn chair" move... She will only sit up if she starts from a flat lying down position. As some of you know, she refuses to bend her waist or legs once she is standing in your lap. So, you have to lay her down flat first, then let her pull herself up using your hands. Its a work in progress.

This video shows more of her voice than it does her sitting skills. She sounds like a chimpanzee.

Happy Easter!

I'm a little behind on the blogging, but I have had requests for more pictures. I had to post our little chick in her Easter best!

The Easter Bunny left this for me?!?!

Carlyle loves to water the plants

Well, Carlyle may have the only green thumb in our family. We went on a walk around the neighborhood, and I decided to water the plants when we got home. I parked Carlyle in the yard facing me while I got the hose and water running, and I heard a belly laugh from behind me. Like everything else, she just knew I was watering the plants for her very own entertainment. We ended up playing for almost a half hour, and she laughed so hard she gave herself the hiccups!

Reading the Morning Paper

Every morning, Carlyle reads the "morning paper" while I eat breakfast on the floor with her. She loves her noisy crackle book!

Do you speak Baby?

I think Justin does...
This is a conversation I caught the two of them having a couple of weeks ago. Its amazing how much more she is babbling and trying to converse with us. Once she discovers a noise or sound, she can't stop making it... over and over again. No "Mama" or "Dada" yet, but we are working on it!
