Last Flight for a while!

We spent this past weekend in Savannah with April, Byron, Susanna Grace, Jay, and their newest edition, Claire. It has been way too long since we last saw them, and we loved spending the weekend playing with the kids and meeting baby Claire.

30 Weeks!

Looking a little less like an alien and more like a sweet baby girl! I know this image from her ultrasound isn't the clearest, but if you tilt your head to the left, you can make out a baby face. She's looking at you, and her cheeks and lips are fuller for sure!

e.a.m. (Expect a Miracle!)

Our Barnes family vacation starts on Saturday! To the beach for a solid 7 days... I can't wait!

A note from my parents on my Dad's most recent news. A sigh of relief and full of overwhelming admiration for the incredible fight he's put up thus far... He's a hero.

Dear Friends and Family,
Just got back from our 8 week checkup at Duke ----------- Chee Chee's MRI was great -- absolutely no changes, which is what we want ------------- he was a little disappointed that Dr. Vredenburgh suggested that after our 12 month check in October (PET scan and MRI), he may want to stay on a once monthly maintenance dose of the Avastin. Dr V thinks this is our best hope for keeping this thing from coming back, so that is what we are going to do. This would mean an IV chemo infusion (about 40 minutes) once a month with Dr. Rodriguez here in Natchez. The Duke doctors will monitor his condition with MRIs every 8 weeks but we will only have to go back to Duke every 4 months. As much as we love those guys it will be a relief not to have to make that trip every 2 months. I think Chee Chee was hoping he'd be turned loose after the October visit but this way, I know we will feel more secure that we are doing everything possible to avoid a recurrence. Also, we think of the three meds he is receiving, the Avastin may have the least side effects. We are hoping he will start feeling better by the time our first grandchild is due (Lauren and Justin -- a girl!!) -- November 3!

Love to all and thanks, as always, for your thoughts and prayers--pfam and eam SDB
