This is the latest email update from my Mom:

"We just got back from our eight week checkup at Duke and, again, got a wonderful report --------- the MRI and all the bloodwork looks great ---------- we saw Dr. Vredenburgh who recently appeared before the FDA board to give testimony on behalf of the drug Avastin on which our clinical trial is based----------- the board unanimously approved the use of Avastin in all cases of glioblastoma multiforme -- that is good news to us as Chee Chee has been on it since September --------- this is the drug that prevents new blood vessels from forming and, therefore cuts off the blood supply to any new or fast growing tumors
we will go back in eight weeks for another check and then in October Chee Chee will have been having chemo for 14 months -------He will have another PET scan and an MRI and at that point we will decide how to proceed -- whether to continue with the Avastin once a month, discontinue all chemo or some other course of action ---- Dr Vredenburgh said he would have more data from the clinical trial to present to us in October to help us decide ---------------------
We are blessed to have the team at Duke on our side, just as we are blessed to have each of you thinking about us and praying for us ------------ thanks again for your continued support ------------ pfam and eam,
Susan and Chee Chee"
